Do we worry too much about lens sharpness?

A  superzoom Panasonic 14-140 II vs an Olympus Pro Prime 17mm. The superzoom at its worst setting (wide open) and the Prime at its best setting (F4.0). Heavy corner crops of about 1900 x 1400 pixels... an experiment I expected to produce a much bigger difference.

Superzoom JPG no corrections

Superzoom processed in DXO Photolab 4

17mm Pro JPG no corrections

17mm Pro processed in DXO Photolab 4

Maybe cost, size, weathersealing, bokeh quality, flare, speed, versatility, AF speed or manual clutch features etc. should all be considered more than the tendency of resolution scores reported in tests/ reviews.

Credit to whoever said that first and my wife for saying it to me... Make the best you can of every day!
